Hi Folks
We here at Gold Star RV Services are first and formost outdoor people. Allan in a previous life was a game warden for 23 years. He has hiked and canoed for over 50 years and knows many of the lesser known places in Berkshire County. He loves to share these, and is always willing to help you find that special place.
We are dedicating this page to just a few that we know you will enjoy. In addition we would love to know what you think. Please let us know by way of our guest book. Life is an adventure. Enjoy it!
The first underdiscovered place and one of my favorites is TANNERY FALLS Located in Savoy.
It is not just the natural beauty of this 80 ft falls, but the remoteness and undeveloped nature of the location that makes it special.
The easiest way to get there is via Loop Road off of Rt 116. Loop Road has two connections to Rt 116 and you can take either one. Proceed up Loop Road to Chapel Road which is the only paved road. Go by the Savoy School and stay on Chapel Road until you turn left on Tannery Road. Don't attempt this during spring thaw as Tannery road is not a year round road and is not passable until the end of mud season.
If you are on RT 2 Take Black Brook Rd to Tannery Road.
If you like traditional tent camping with quiet peaceful settings it will be hard to beat Sperry Road campground on MT Greylock. There are 15 tent sites and 7 group sites, cost was $10 per night last year.
Sperry Road is closed to vehicles and a 1.3 mile hike over a relatively level trail is necessary from a parking area on Rockwell Rd. From the campground it is a short hike to stoney ledge or to the summit as well as the over 70 miles of hiking trails on the Mt.
